The goodness in my life

As I was thinking about something that I’m praying about and wishing for in my life, I was thinking once that thing happens, if it happens, then I can feel satisfied and let out a big sigh of relief. I felt God tugging on my heart and “saying” to me , “when will you see my goodness? Will that next answer to your prayer be enough to see my goodness? Or maybe the one after that?” And then it hit me: we tend to always want more from God and we forget his many, many blessings and past answers to our prayers. We lose sight of His goodness in our lives all over the place. What about the thousands of other prayers I’ve prayed and gotten answers to? Did any of those help me see and recognize the goodness of God? As I get older I’m realizing that we can be happy now. We can be grateful now. We can be content and find exuberant joy right now even in the midst of our hard season. If we are looking and sometimes it takes searching for the blessings and the good happening in our lives, our families and our world we will find them! They ironic thing is that sometimes the goodness we find comes out of the hard thing. The hard thing provides a new opportunity to see new goodness growing out of the rocky hard soil of hardship. Isaiah 61:3 says “He will give a crown of beauty for ashes , a joyous blessing instead of mourning”. Let’s all look for the goodness all around us even if and in spite of the waiting and wanting. I know that it is there all we have to do is see it.
