What “letter” are you wearing today?
The holidays are a magical time but they are also a time that can remind us of the hurts, the loneliness or the pain we’ve experienced. When families get together to celebrate it’s sometimes a stark reminder of who’s missing, what could have been or where we’ve gone wrong. Sometimes it’s who isn’t seated at the table that causes the most pain. We all have identities and sometimes they change daily and often it’s a matter of perspective. Sometimes we wear the letter L for loser. Maybe yours is a D for divorced. Maybe your letter is C for cheater. Maybe yours is F for fat or U for ugly. Maybe you wear two letters, BP for bad parent. Hopefully you’re not wearing the letter I for irredeemable! Sometimes the letters are put on us by others because they don’t fully know us or know the whole story. The letters and what they represent are endless. The truth is we’re all losers at times. We’re all cheaters in some way. We’ve all put on some pounds or had our ugly days. We’ve all been bad parents at times. But to wear those letters around aren’t accurate representations of who we truly are. The enemy, Satan wants us to wear those negative titles around our necks like heavy stones but God wants us to shift our perspective and wear the letters like anchors. What about F for forgiven? That’s a great letter and identity. How about L for loved by a Creator? I love the letter R for redeemed. Forgiven, loved, and redeemed that’s who I am. Those three letters wipe away the negative titles and letters in one fell swoop. It’s way too easy to listen to those negative voices and wear those heavy letters around. Don’t listen to the enemy, listen to God about who you are and more importantly, whose you are. A simple shift in perspective can change the letter you’re wearing around. Be blessed today and choose which letter you’re going to be representing today!
